New Refworks features

There are some major changes in store for RefWorks users this semester.  Some of you may have gotten an email from RefWorks-COS Support Services, advising you that your username had been changed to match your Bucknell email address.  If your username was unique in the RefWorks system, a change was not required. With unique usernames comes a real advantage.  Users, even Bucknell alumni, will no longer need the “group code” to log in to a RefWorks account from off-campus or off-network computers.  The only time the group code will be asked for is if you want to create a new account while you are off the Bucknell network.  In that case, contact the campus RefWorks administrator Jim Van Fleet, or refworks@bucknell.edu.  You can log in and follow the RefWorks Update Profile link if you would like to choose a different user name.

The second change will be obvious when you log in to RefWorks version 2.0.  The entire interface has been updated.  The old familiar menu options still appear near the top of the screen.  These old pull-down menus have actually been simplified.  There are now many more features and functions, located under new tabs and sidebars on the RefWorks screen.  The easiest way for an experienced RefWorks user to review the changes is to watch their short RefWorks 2.0 Preview at http://www.refworks-cos.com/refworks/rwpreview/RefWorks_New_UI_demo.htm

If you have any questions, see our RefWorks web page, email refworks@bucknell.edu, or contact the RefWorks support team at http://www.refworks.com/support/.

When are my library books due?

1. You can look at your own Library Account from myBucknell/My Accounts/Library Accounts/Review My Account and then click on “Checkouts” to see what you have checked out and when it’s due. You can also renew items from this page.
2. If you have items that are now overdue, you should return them or renew them (either online or at the Circ Desk in the Library).
3. All regular circulating books checked out now to firstyear, sophomore, or junior students will be due on January 17, so, yes, you can keep them over the break (but don’t forget and leave them at home!)
4. All Seniors have a 1-semester loan period, so books checked out now are due in May.
5. DVDs and other videos have a 1-week loan period, so please don’t plan to take those away over the break.
6. You can look at your own ILLiad account to see when your interlibrary loan items are due.
